Eurotrack Indices

A summary of current performance in the European equities marketsis provided by the European Series indices, tracking a representative sample of major continental European companies and providing a basis for derivative contracts.

FT-SE Eurotrack 100 – Yesterdays hourly changes and high and low for the day, and the previous five trading days’ closing values of an index monitoring 100 major companies. This index was launched in October 1990 with a base value of 1000. In 1991 LIFFE issued options on the index. It is based on the prices of constituent companies, London dealings only, not those of the home markets, and is intended to reflect the role of the London market as the leading international market in European shares.

FT-SE Eurotrack 200 – An index of 100 UK and 100 continental European stocks, with all its constituents traded in London only. Launched in February 1991, the index combines the stocks in the FT-SE 100 with those in the Eurotrack 100.

By uniting UK and continental European stocks, the Eurotrack 200 provides investors with an instant overview of securities trading throughout the major European markets. Continuous real-time prices from the London Stock Exchange’s SEAQ and SEAQ International allow the Eurotrack 200 to operate without interruption throughout the trading day and provides a convenient means of measuring the performance of the European markets overall.
