The New York Stock Exchange

The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) is the main US exchange, listing the largest US corporations. It is known colloquially as the “Big Board”.

NYSE Stocks – Each stock listing begins with information on the price highs and lows for the year to date, also the abbreviated name by which the stock is known.

Dividend, Yield, P/E and Sales – The last declared dividend calculated at an annual rate (in dollars); the current dividend yield – a percentage calculated as the dividend divided by the current price multiplied by 100; the price/earnings ratio, calculated as the current price divided by the current annual earnings per share; and ‘Sales 100s’, the volume of round lots (of 100 shares each) of stocks traded on the previous day.

Prices – The highest and lowest price of the day, the closing quote and the change on the previous day’s closing price.
